We were given some time to investigate Machu Picchu after our guided tour, so I made the most of it by climbing the outer stairs to the guardhouse. I was watching the uneven stairs beneath me, but looked up, I saw the faces of the other tourists as their jaws dropped. After a day in the clouds, the sun finally broke through, revealing it’s splendor and majesty for all of us to see.
